EU at the UN

The EU's commitment to effective multilateralism, with the UN at its core, is a central element of its external action. As a UN observer with enhanced status, the EU delegation coordinates with its 28 Member States to speak with one voice. The EU also works closely with the UN secretariat and its agencies, funds & programmes, partnering on a range of global issues and challenges.

Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), will participate in the NATO summit that will take place on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 June 2004, in Istambul

On Monday, in the margins of the summit, the High Representative, Mr. SOLANA, and the Secretary General of the NATO, Mr. Jaap DE HOOP SCHEFFER, will hold a bilateral meeting to discuss EU-NATO relations, in particular in the Balkans region in view of the expected decision of NATO to terminate the SFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the launching of an EU?led mission.
