EU at the UN

The EU's commitment to effective multilateralism, with the UN at its core, is a central element of its external action. As a UN observer with enhanced status, the EU delegation coordinates with its 28 Member States to speak with one voice. The EU also works closely with the UN secretariat and its agencies, funds & programmes, partnering on a range of global issues and challenges.

20 June 2016, Luxembourg – Council of the European Union conclusions on business and human rights

The Council adopted conclusions on business and human rights on the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the UN guiding principles on business and human rights (UNGPs), the main comprehensive framework providing the international community with the tools to address human rights violations by business.

The Council reaffirmed the EU strong and active engagement to prevent abuses and ensure remedy worldwide, and to ensure the UNGPs’ implementation.
