We had a good exchange with development Ministers today. First of all on migration, I updated them on the state of play on the migration compacts, the work we have done, especially with African countries, in view also of the European Council in December where I will present the second Report on the migration compacts, the first results we are having with our partner countries .
Then we had, for the first time ever, a discussion with development Ministers on energy looking at the links between our development policies and access to energy, especially again on Africa, acknowledging that this is going to be part of our policies for poverty eradication. We will be working with the investment plan I have launched in September on accompanying in private investments on the energy sector in Africa in a sustainable manner.
And then we also worked on the implementation of the sustainable development goals. The European Union has been at the forefront of shaping consensus internationally on the Agenda 2030 and we will be, we will stay, a strong point of reference for the entire world on the implementation of the sustainable development goals. We have worked on that with the Ministers.
So it has been a good day of work and now I will continue with the rest of my day, just going to meet the Indonesian Foreign Minister. Thank you very much.
Q. Did you also discuss the future partnership between the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) countries and the EU?
A. Also yes. This is not the first time we have this conversation with the Ministers. We are preparing our position, the European Union’s position on the future framework of partnership with Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries. We have had also on that good discussions with the Ministers, the work will continue. We have still time, the Cotonou Agreement still has some years of life, we are starting to exchange also with our partners in the ACP region on what future framework they want to see and we are working to make sure that we get the best both for Europeans and for the ACP countries in our future relationship that is going to be very important for both of us. Thank you.
