Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made the following comments on the conduct of yesterday's elections to the Rada in Ukraine:
"I congratulate the Ukrainian people on the conduct yesterday of free and fair elections to their Rada, in accordance with international standards for democratic elections. These elections set a new standard on which to build Ukraine's future.
We look forward to continuing and deepening our partnership with Ukraine on the basis of a continued reform process for the development of the rule of law, the transformation of society, the strengthening of democracy and the building of a market economy. "
