Summary: 22 November 2010, Brussels - Today, the European Commission has approved two projects in favour of Liberia for a total amount of EUR 10.8 million.
The first project is a EUR 7 million funding contribution to the UNDP Basket Fund for support to the 2011 Liberian Presidential and General elections. Successful conduct of the Electoral Cycle will be a significant step in the consolidation of democracy in Liberia.
The second project will strengthen the General Auditing Commission (GAC) in its external oversight function over the utilization of public funds with a contribution of EUR 3.8 million. This will contribute in ensuring the fiscal accountability and transparency within Liberia.
